Rohtang Pass in April 2023

Rohtang Pass, the snow point which is the most favorite destination of tourists to enjoy the snow, is 51 km from Manali. It is at an altitude of 4111 meters on the Manali-Keylong highway. Snow covered hills can be seen here almost throughout the year.

Is Rohtang pass open in April?

During the month of April, the roads to Rohtang Pass are opened by mid of the month if the snowfall in the months January – February are not very heavy and if the roads are cleared and are safe to travel. The permission to travel on the Rohtang Pass highway is given by The Indian Army. When the roads are opened here, adventurous sports like skiing, snow biking ,horse riding and paragliding can be enjoyed there. As the weather in Rohtang Pass is unpredictable, if the year experiences heavy snowfall, the roads to Rohtang pass are blocked in the entire month April and are opened when the roads are safe to travel. Tourists are advised to wear the warm clothing available on rental basis to enjoy the best on snow and avoiding getting wet while playing. The temperature hovers around zero degrees in April and weather conditions can  deteriorate anytime leading to snowfall. You can always see snow in Rohtang pass in April month.

• Do not forget to carry heavy woolens for Rohtang pass as it is a very cold place all round the year. You also have the option of getting this clothing on rent on the way to Rohtang Pass or you can buy at manali market.
• The number of vehicles going to Rohtang pass is restricted by NGT. Do apply for permit on time and secure your visit
• The pass is closed on Tuesdays for tourists
