Rohtang pass is the main tourist attraction of Manali and a must see place in Manali. Located at a height of 10000 feet this pass offers fantastic views of snow capped mountains, valley and vegetation. From the top of Rohtang Pass, one can see the Kullu Valley as well as the Lahaul and Spiti Valley. People from across the county throng this place to see snow round the year. The pass remains closed in the winter months of December, January and February due to heavy snowfall. The road leading to Rohtang pass is also very picturesque.

Why Rohtang Pass Permit Required ?

In 2011, the permit restriction was enforced by NGT for any vehicles travelling on Manali to Rohtang Pass road in that very direction. Rohtang Pass is also one of the most beautiful and popular highway routes in the world.  The vehicle may or may not go to Rohtang pass if roads are closed by BRO due to snowfall / adverse weather conditions/ restrictions by NGT. We will not be liable for this. Only 800 petrol and 400 diesel vehicles can go to Rohtang Pass daily with permit

Get Rohtang Pass permit online

  1. First you need to visit on this site for permission https://rohtangpermits.nic.in.
  2. Click to Proceed for online payment of taxes/ Fees.
  3. Mention all the details of Driver license, Vehicle etc.
  4. Click on submit button. SMS will come to your phone No.
  5. Enter the OTP no. Next to reference no.
  6. Click on submit your permit will be sent to your mobile no.
  7. Carry mention ID proof and PUC at the time of journey.
  8. Take the print of Rohtang Pass permit.

 Rohtang Pass permit information

  1. As per current status only 400 Diesel and 800 petrol vehicles are allowed by NGT daily.
  2. All the vehicles required Rohtang Pass permission to Visit Rohtang.
  3. You can take a permit in two time slots daily online
    (i) 10:00 hrs (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
    (ii) 16:00 hrs (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
  4. One permit will applicable for one vehicle and only for one day.
  5. One vehicle can apply for permit 3 times in a week.
  6. No permits are issued for Tuesdays as Rohtang Pass remains closed for maintenance work on this day.
  7. Tourists can get their travel permits maximum of 6 days in advance.
  8. If you are travelling to Ladakh or Spiti via Manali, this is the permit you would need to obtain. From Manali Leh highway you do not need any.
  9. You can  take the government buses for rohtang pass and for that you don’t required any permit.

This place is 45 km from Kullu town. This place is associated with Lord Shiva and is believed that Parvati lost and got back her ear rings at this place. This place is famous for its hot springs. There is a Gurudwara here and the dal, rice and vegetables served in the Gurudwara are cooked in the main spring water which is very hot. Tourists also take a dip in this holy water.
