Winters in Dalhousie are chilly and transform the quaint little town into a winter wonderland as the region receives heavy snowfall beginning from the month of December, till February-end. Snowfall is a common feature here, which adds up to the bitter cold in the town. During February month snowfall heavily occurs dressing the “Home of Manu” in white sheet. The view of snowfall is a magical and sense tantalizing moment for visitors. Especially for people from plains, the place seems a winter wonderland as depicted in stories. The maximum temperature during days touches around 10 degree C. while in nights, its freezing as the mercury often dips down to sub zero levels.

Snowfall creates beauty and charm but it also appears as a problem as sometimes visitors and vehicles are stranded in between and they seems helpless due to slippery conditions of the roads after snowfall. This is the crowded season of Dalhousie so make sure you make your arrangements in advance.

During snowfall, winter warm wears are advisable. Warm garments, sweaters, caps, socks, cardigans, jackets and shawls are must. So one can choose colors accordingly that can keep you warm and safe.

Dalhousie is a small city in the lap of Himachal Pradesh, which is a haven for tourists visiting here. Dalhousie is a place where you can roam all year round due to its ideal climate. In January Dalhousie experiences the cold winds that comes here from higher Himalayan regions. The day temperatures are around 19 °c and the night temperature can dip to 4 °c or below making very hard to resist, as result gloves and warm clothes are recommended.  If the weather gets bad, there becomes maximum possibility of snowfall. If you are want to watch snowfall and can really bear the cold then winter is the best season to be in Dalhousie.

During the first week of January, there is chance of snowfall and white New Year. It seems as if all the cultures have gathered here to enjoy the beauty and snow of Dalhousie since this is the time when large number of tourists visits this place.

As I also recommended, never come in light winter clothing during this time as you may find it difficult to cope with the weather conditions. All the fluffy stuff of the winter will make you enjoy the winters in a hilly area like Dalhousie.
