How to Reach Sangla

Sangla is one of those many beautiful places in Himachal Pradesh, where we wish to visit again and again. The first question that comes to mind is on how to reach Sangla, as we mentioned previously in the article. This pristine town is set in the Kinnauri district of Himachal Pradesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Sangla is very well connected by road and you can actually get here for all 12 months of the year. Due to the remote location of the city (in the tribal hills of Himachal), there is no dedicated airport in the city. Kullu/ Bhuntar (225 Km) or Shimla (445 Km) are the nearest airports to travel to in order to reach Sangla. Reckong Peo, the District Headquarters of Kinnaur is 235 Km. from Shimla. National Highways -22 is the most convenient communication network to Kinnaur. Sometimes, the vehicle passes through a narrow section of the road and if you look below, down to hundreds of feet, the fierce flow of Satluj can shiver your spine with thrill and excitement.

Airport near Sangla

The nearest airport to Sangla is the Shimla airport located in Jubbarhatti. After Shimla, the next nearest airport is the Bhuntar airport between Chandigarh and Manali. Hence, Chandigarh is the best place to start the journey to Sangla if you are flying from any other part of India than Delhi or other Northern states.

By Road to Reach Sangla

Once you reach Shimla it will take 9 hours to reach Sangla which is approximately 267 km. Cab will pass through Fagu, Theog, Narkanda and Rampur. These roads are absolutely motorable and one can even take the bus facility that is provided by the HRTC. The second nearest major railway station is at Chandigarh; trains to which are available from all major cities in the country.
